The month of August is a peach. Literally and figuratively. It’s National Peach Month, and it’s also filled with lots of mouthwatering events to attend.  Some of our favorites include The Maine Lobster Festival, the Food Truck Derby and the Vermont Cheesemakers Festival.  And when we aren’t dining out, you find find us at home trying out some of our new favs in the stylish Missoni Family Cookbook.

Copenhagen Cooking & Food Festival is an annual food festival that celebrates the Copenhagen gastro scene and Denmark as a food country.  The 10 day festival hosts more than 100 unique events with something for to suit all tastes – from intimate dinners with Danish chefs to huge food events with thousands of guests – Aug 24 – Sept 9

Try some glamping at the River Cottage Summer Festival.  Enjoy a weekend of music, masterclasses, foraging, pop up restaurants, street food and local cider – Aug 25 – 26

Chef-forager René Redzepi’s non-profit organisation Mad will hold its 6th annual Mad Symposium in Copenhagen with talks, demonstrations, group discussions and, of course, exclusive dinners – Aug 26 – 27

La Tomatina, a massive food fight held in the tiny town of Buñol, 25 miles outside Valencia takes place at the end of this month. The festival, which lasts fewer than two hours and involves the hurling and smashing of nearly 180 tons of overripe tomatoes, has been a fixture on the Spanish calendar only since the late 1950s – Aug 29

Hitting bookshelves this month is Whiskey Cocktails, from top mixologist Brian Van Flandern ($50). Brimming with recipes, this book explores one of American’s most popular spirits – sipped by Madison Avenue “Ad Men” and the blue-collar alike (remember the “good ol’ boys drinking whiskey and rye” in the Don Mclean song American Pie?)
