The Luxury Photo Journey is an occasional series here at Dandelion Chandelier. Sometimes we find ourselves in a place so stunningly beautiful that words fail us. In those instances, instead of sharing our story, we’ll just let the images do the talking.
As part of a 10-day adventure on the Regent Seven Seas Explorer, we recently visited St. Kitts for the first time – and we were taken aback by the beauty of this small Caribbean island. [Full disclosure: in April 2018 I was appointed to the board of the parent company of Regent Seven Seas]. Our journey took us from botanical gardens and batik to a forbidding cliff-side fort. We gazed at the place where the sea meets the ocean. And then it was onward to sunset over the harbor, and the start of another starry night on the high seas.
First stop, the Fairview Great House and Botanical Garden, featuring desert roses, foxtail palms, and a pond in the shape of the island.
Then it was on to the lovely Romney Manor, once owned by a forefather of Thomas Jefferson, and now home to Caribelle Batik.
The Brimstone Hill Fortress National Park has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The 17th-century British redoubt was built by slaves to defend the island from the French. Now an adorable sentry keeps watch at the parapets, keeping a sharp eye out for errant sea birds.
The tony Timothy Hill neighborhood is where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea.
A wonderful day on St. Kitts ends with sunset at the harbor.
And back aboard the Regent Seven Seas Explorer, it’s time for dinner for two under the stars.
Yes, we’re pretty sure we could get used to this. See you on our next journey!
