What can we learn about men’s style from this year’s Hollywood awards shows? Specifically, the men’s fashion at the Oscars, the BAFTAs, and the rest? Our ace correspondent has curated a list of menswear style tips and men’s best dressed fashion winners for the male celebrities on the red carpet at the Oscars, BAFTAs, SAG and other film awards in 2023. Spoiler alert: Marcel the Shell slayed.
what menswear style tips can we glean from the red carpet at major film awards of 2023?
We’ve come to expect ultra-high levels of glitz and glamor from Hollywood’s biggest night and the 2023 Oscars didn’t disappoint. In this golden age of menswear, pretty much anything goes on the red (er, “champagne”) carpet, but the biggest fits last night were mostly perfectly executed takes on classic formal tuxes. There were some notable, excellent swerves (looking at you Questlove) and hits of color (ahem, Dwayne Johnson) as well as a bevy of brooches. No surprise that sharp tailoring won the night along with Everything, Everywhere All At Once, and we saw all manners of DBs, proper dinner jackets and welcomed what we can only hope is an era of beads and embroidery on guys.
Everyone’s a winner here. Because these fit gods have been out campaigning and collecting statues for the last few months, we’re also including some very notable mentions from the other awards shows this season.
