But until now, we had not encountered a relatively new sub-genre in the fragrance and beauty world: the cocktail-scented candle.
When you think of it, the idea isn’t a bad one. If you’re hosting a party, why not greet your guests with that “midnight rave” scent? Or if you’re bringing a gift to a friend to celebrate a big moment, why not a candle that smells like champagne?

2. Fornasetti
Fornasetti’s ‘Cocktail’ candle is ideal for entertaining – the ceramic vessel ($365) is decorated with olives, gin and whiskey bottles, and tumblers inspired by founder Piero Fornasetti’s ’50’s illustrations. Light the trio of wicks, and the smoky “Otto” scent will fill the room with notes of Cedarwood, Lavender and Thyme.
There’s also a fanciful champagne version – the container for the Apertivo scented candle ($165) is illustrated with a white, tonal-grey, brown, red and yellow monkey party print.

3. Maison Margiela
Maison Margiela’s Jazz Club scented candle ($62) is part of the brand’s Replica line. It’s designed to evoke a familiar but forgotten moment— in this case, a night’s sojourn at a hidden jazz club. Its notes include Neroli Oil, Rum Absolute, Clary Sage Oil, Java Vetiver Oil and Tobacco Leaf Absolute.
4. Malin + Goetz
The Malin + Goetz line of scented candles currently has a couple of boozy options: the Mojito candle ($55) and the Dark Rum candle ($55).
The brand suggests burning them either separately or together to get the party started: the Dark Rum is the “alcohol,” and the Mojito is the “mixer.” The other advice from Malin + Goetz? Remember to save the glass for making mojitos. Roger that.

5. Wave Murano Glass
Designer Roberto Beltrami combines ancient glass-blowing practices with modern silhouettes in his line of scented candles. The Vino scented candle ($75) contains “subtle scents of mulled wine.”
6. Alexandra Mysoor
The Peach Bellini scented candle ($75) is part of the Happy collection from Alexandra Mysoor. Each scent in the collection evokes a beloved memory. In this case, “girlfriend trips with plush robes, mud masks and hours-long gab sessions accompanied by Peach Bellinis.” The fragrance has notes of peaches, honey, vanilla, Prosecco and floral-infused sugars.
7. Rewind
This Charleston, South Carolina-based company, founded in 2009, uses discarded wine empty bottles to craft scented candles that smell like . . . wait for it . . . various varieties of wine. The selection of boozy luxury candles includes candles that have the fragrance of Chardonnay, Cabernet, Malbec, Pinot Noir, and more. They’re available online, and also at West Elm.
More recently, the line has expanded to include cocktail-scented candles, with scents including Margarita, Cosmopolitan, Mojito and Manhattan.
