insider tips for Paris Fashion Week
The epic 2023 Fashion Weeks are finally coming to an end and there is no better place to end than Paris. Paris Fashion Week Fall 2023 is already in full swing and will run through March 7. One hundred and five brands will be shown over nine days including Schiaparelli, Dior, Victoria Beckham, Stella McCartney and Chanel as well as the debut of new designers like Anna October, Boutet Solanes, Florentina Leitner, Paula Canovas, Pressiat and Ruohan.
If you are lucky enough to attend then you really can’t go wrong just running from show to show but if you have some time there are so many wonderful places to eat and experience (and sleep!) in Paris. Here is an insider’s guide to Paris Fashion Week.
6 Hot Spots to Experience Paris like a Fashion Editor
1. Villa Marquis
First you will need a place to stay. Located in the heart of the Paris Golden Triangle – close walking distance to the Eiffel Tower, Seine, and Louvre – The Hotel Villa Marquis Meliá Collection has been the place to be for centuries. For the elite of all kinds, and for the fashion crowd, too. This historic property has witnessed the succession of 9 marquises and the construction of the Eiffel Tower. Victor Hugo was even nearby writing “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame” on the very same street.
In 2021, The Villa Marquis did a full interior restoration under Alvaro Sans, who revived the cultural and artistic spirit of the hotel in a tribute to the theatrical side of Paris. With 63 rooms and suites spread over 8 floors, the Dos Almas–an embassy of Franco-Spanish cuisine for Parisians and travelers alike, and a fully equipped wellness center–a favorite of tennis legend Rafael Nadal.
2. Sinner
If you want to spot some gorgeous French people then this is SINNER – Luxury Hotel – Bar, Restaurant – Le Marais, Paris. (sinnerparis.com). Plus, the name just sounds so sexy!
A favorite of fashion designer Jacquemus (but you’ll have to bring your own teeny, tiny bag), and editor Carine Roitfeld (fashion editor), you can people-watch while dining on North African cuisine.
Address: 116 Rue du Temple, 75003
3. L’Avenue
If you want classic French food in the most chic possible surroundings, head to this Paris haunt. “L’Avenue is the place to see and be seen,” says influencer and founder of Lumiere de Vie and jewelry brand Layered Amber Ridinger Mclaughlin.
You’ll be right in the center of Avenue Montaigne, surrounded by world-class shops (and shoppers.) During Fashion Week there is a good chance you may spot a Kardashian or a Hadid. If that’s your thing.
Address: 41 Avenue Montaigne, 75008
4. Coiffeur Vintage
You can’t go to Paris without at least perusing a vintage shop. At Coiffeur Vintage, a true Paris treasure, you can find real gems at affordable prices. It is a small space but you can find exactly what you are looking for.
32 Rue de Rosiers. 75004
5. Maison Colbert, Paris
If you want another option for chic places to stay, this hotel on the Left Bank is a stunner. Situated opposite Notre Dame Cathedral in a 16th century-listed building, it was designed by architect Alvaro Sans in collaboration with his daughter Adriana, Maison Colbert is a vibrant tribute to the work of painter Joaquín Sorolla. In addition to its rich history, hotel guests can sample delicious pastries by the chef-maison Nina Métayer. Or take helicopter flight over the roofs of Paris to Versailles. Not sure Marie Antoinette even traveled with that much style.
6. City Pharma
Even if you aren’t a model, you need to know where the good pharmacy with the good beauty products is. And like most of France, this regular store is still somehow a work of art. Brands carried by City Pharma include La Roche-Posay, Bioderma, Nuxe and Klorane. Plus, after a week of eating French food you are going to need some Tums.
