What are the top 7 Spring Fashion Trends right now in 2021?
Perhaps the first order of business when discussing this spring’s fashion trends is to affirm that yes, fashion still exists — it’s still relevant! While we were hibernating in loungewear or nap dresses, fashion designers continued to work during the global pandemic, designing clothing that women might be inspired to wear, clothing that fit the times.

Some of the trends to emerge from the virtual fashion shows can be thought of as a rebirth and return to au naturel. Transparent garments, body-con cut-outs, and mini skirts speak to a desire to embrace and showcase the human body in a time when we have been socially distanced and bereft of human contact.
With the lower half of our faces covered up with masks, there is an impulse to reveal ourselves elsewhere. And truth be told, it does get pretty hot and stifling with a mask on in the warmer months. Designers like Christian Dior, Miu Miu, Off-White, Gabriela Hearst to Brandon Maxwell are giving us built-in air-conditioning!
On the other hand, trends like loose, relaxed trousers and maxi dresses make a statement while maintaining the feeling we’ve all grown accustomed to this past year — comfort. Slouchy and voluminous styling was all the rage at Louis Vuitton, Alberta Ferretti, Jacquemus and Fendi.

As for color, two stood out in particular for their ubiquity. Pink, it can be argued, has never gone away and it continues as a force to be reckoned with. From a pale petal pink to vibrant fuchsia, there’s a flattering shade for everyone. And call it mint, pistachio or moss, this pastel version of green lit up designer’s collections with a soft, natural lightness — the perfect mood for spring.
Take a look at this season’s biggest trends and where you can buy them now for a fresh start to the season.
7 Luxury Designer Fashion Trends to know for spring 2021
1. time for transparency
One of the most surprising and delightful looks of the season were these diaphanous, light as air garments. Though it might seem risqué at first for everyday wear, we think it’s actually more versatile than it looks with plenty of potential for layering.
To channel this goddess-inspired look for a WFH meeting, Brunello Cucinelli’s sheer silk blouse ($798) is classically constructed with pockets at the chest for modesty. Wear with a blue camisole…or not, for a Zoom-date. We love Baum Und Pferdgarten’s layered coral pink dress ($156) paired with white trainers for a youthful vibe. For your first post-pandemic party, you have to go big. How about Rodarte’s whimsical, glitter floral tulle skirt ($1,214)? Minimalists can get in on the sheer trend too with Raey’s slim-cut long sleeve tee ($102), partially made with Seacell – an eco-friendly fibre sourced from seaweed and wood.
2. cutting corners
A key fashion trend to know this spring is all about showing some skin. A strategic cut-out is bold, edgy and sexy — perfect for channeling your inner femme fatale, in a nonchalant kind of way. Revealing and embracing the skin you’re in is always a great fashion statement.
A deceptively innocent buttercup yellow sweatshirt from MM6 Maison Margiela ($680) gets the cut-out treatment via the elbows and a back V-slit for some added edge. One of our must-haves of the season is this Aja white linen dress ($595) for its effortlessly cool and feminine style. Dondup’s cut out sweater ($289) has a beautiful fluid drape in the front and it’s a party in the back with deeper reveals from the shoulder to the waist. For a retro, athletic vibe, Staud’s ponte maxi dress ($275) is a timeless and versatile piece.

3. mini skirts go a long way
When in doubt, show some leg — especially after a year of walking, walking and more walking. Those gams are toned and ready to be shown off. Whether you go the matchy-matchy route or decide to power clash, the result looks energetic and youthful.
Ganni’s leopard print and mini skirt silhouette ($205) is a classic combo. We’d pair with a graphic tee and sneakers for a not trying too hard look. Zimmerman’s mini ($695) is made with a dreamy linen organza blended with silk and epitomizes the spring/summer season with its floaty and painterly print. Looking for a classic denim miniskirt ($167)? A.P.C, the perennially cool French girl brand, has you covered — at least to your thighs. 80’s fashion lovers need ReDone’s fold over black denim skirt ($250) for a subversive, rock and roll statement.
4. too big for your britches
Goodbye leggings and skinny jeans. Let’s all take a page out of Michelle Obama’s book and reach for a wide-legged trouser for a look that’s authoritative and cool. Listen, if we have to wear anything with a waist band, it might as well be these.
If we had to pick one pair of slouchy trousers to buy, it would be Loewe’s paperbag-waist gabardine trousers ($750) for their effortless elegance. Then again, denim is a staple and if you’re need of an update from skinny jeans, look no further than Raey’s wide leg jeans ($176). It’s easy to make a visual impact even when dressing casually with Isabel Marant’s voluminous pleated cotton pants ($705). And for a graceful look in one of the key colors of the season, check out Moncler’s cotton and linen cropped pants ($750)
5. maxed out maxi dresses
It’s prairie-chic, gypsy-chic and Victorian nightgown-chic all in one. These maxi dresses don’t just graze the ground, they graze the arms and neck too. An alternative to the skin-bearing styles of the season, this covered-up trend still makes a high-impact statement. Its dramatic silhouette and potential for eye-catching prints.
Hemant & Nadita’s garden party ready dress ($368) has stripes of metallic thread for an opulent day look. We can see this white Johnny Was dress ($455) getting a lot of wear — on the beach with flip flops or dressed up with a pop-colored heel. No one does feminine vintage whimsy quite like LoveShackFancy. This ethereal pink floral maxi ($595) is for free spirits everywhere. Not a fan of pastels? Check out this romantic black floral from Borgo de Nor ($1,612).

6. pretty in pink
Love it or hate it, pink is still in vogue. We have to admit its staying power keeps surprising us. One hypothesis is that the color translates so well over social media app. For example, Monica Khemsurov from the design blog “Sight Unseen” specified that her ordinary posts might have 1,500 likes while pink ones have 4,000!
Forte Forte’s softly constructed blazer ($660) is a nice upgrade from the knit cardigan from last season. Marc Jacob’s flirty tiered skirt ($177) elevates a comfy old-tshirt for a sweet, spring look. For an instant “I feel pretty” boost, consider this floral appliqué sweater from Molly Goddard ($755). London’s favorite, Emilia Wickstead designed this classy pink shirtdress ($1,710) to wear all day- from outdoor lunch to WFH meetings.
7. minty fresh
There were a lot of contenders for pop colors of the season. In addition to pink, yellow (one of Pantone’s colors of the year) made many appearances, as did vibrant orange. But this organic-inspired sea-green stood out — fresh as mint as our favorite.
Sea’s button down dress with ruffled sleeves ($350) is the quintessential easy and breezy spring/summer outfit. Inspired by the movement of waves in the sea, Nanushka designed these pants ($565) to sit high on your waist and fall to straight legs with split cuffs. We love Staud’s romantic dress ($375) with a corset-inspired cut-out for picnics at the park. It doesn’t get fresher than this Acne Studios blazer ($750) crafted from a mid-weight suiting fabric that’s blended with wool and partially lined for comfort and drape. It comes with matching shorts, just saying.
