12 best places in NYC for a romantic Valentine’s Day evening
1. Blue Hill at Stone Barns: Explore
Perhaps you want a Valentine’s Day that includes more than just dinner? Well, we can’t think of a more romantic experience than this afternoon exploration at Blue Hill Stone Barns. Your ticket will include a tour of the innovation labs and farms, followed by – of course – an unforgettable Valentine’s meal. If you fancy a February 14th excursion that will take you outside the city, and give you scenic views as well as award-winning food, this sounds like a first-rate plan to us. $498 per person.
2. Eleven Madison Park
Non-meat eaters, your moment has arrived – thanks to Eleven Madison Park’s new vegetarian menu, it’s no longer hard for vegetarians and vegans to find an excellent restaurant for the holidays. This Valentine’s Day, they’re offering an eight-course menu that is entirely plant-based, to help all you happy couples celebrate this special night. $395 a person – reservations have just sold out, but there are waitlists available, so sign up now.
3. Kissaki
One of our favorite Japanese restaurants, from Chef Testu Yagi and Chef Mark Garcia – is offering a special Valentine’s Day menu all weekend, which is perfect for those who object to celebrating the holiday on a Tuesday night. Choose between indoor and outdoor seating, and you’ll enjoy a sixteen-course Omakase menu – three appetizers, twelve pieces of nigiri, and a surprise dessert. $100 per person.
4. Jungsik
Jungsik is going all-out for Valentine’s Day. Diners can cozy up in their single-party outdoor cabins – all of which are completely insulated against the elements, of course – or grab a table indoors. There’s going to be an extended Chef’s tasting menu, which will include favorites from the restaurant’s New Korean menu, as well as other delights. $350 per person.
5. Crown Shy
From Saturday, February 11th through Tuesday, February 14th, Crown Shy will be offering their special Valentine’s Day menu. This is a five-course tasting menu, and though we don’t yet know what you can find on it, we’re hoping for a dessert that is as awe-inspiring as their satsuma orange ice cream. Reservations are going fast, so act now. $250 per person.
6. Bar Blondeau
Bat Blondeau was one of our favorite new spots in 2021, and we can’t think of a more romantic place to spend this Valentine’s Day – after all, nothing says romance quite like a beautiful view. As you know, Bar Blondeau comes from the same team behind Le Crocodile and Chez Ma Tante, and it sits on top of the Wythe Hotel in Williamsburg. So you know you can expect delicious food – plenty of seafood, with Spanish and Portugese influences – and plenty of scenery, as well as a celebratory Valentine’s Day prix-fixe menu.
7. Soda Club
Chef Amira is preparing a very special Valentine’s Day dinner this year – all fresh pasta, and natural wine. Although tickets in the dining room are currently sold out, there are still some seats available at the bar – this is the time for you and your date to get a little cozy and reenact the scene from Lady and the Tramp.
8. Gage and Tollner
We heard from a little birdie that the classic Brooklyn restaurant is already accepting Valentine’s Day reservations, perfect for anyone who has yet to book their seat. They will be offering their full menu (including their famous steak, and their Baked Alaska for two), as well as a Valentine’s Day three-course prix-fixe menu $107 per person.
9. Aquavit
Aquavit has been serving their legendary Nordic cuisine since 1987. And for Valentine’s Day this year, diners can choose between three special menus. First, for $165 a person, you can enjoy a three-course pre-fixe menu, with the optional add-on of an $125 wine pairing. Or, for $325 per person, you can upgrade to a six-course menu, with a wine pairing for an additional $225. And last but not least, you can grab a seat at the bar and indulge in a spread of caviar, oysters, and champagne – the triumvirate of aphrodisiacs. Choose your own adventure this Valentine’s Day.
10. Carbone
Carbone has just published their Valentine’s Day menu, and we could not be more excited. It starts with caviar and burrata, then a choice of pasta – rigatoni vodka, or the classic Valentine’s Day spaghetti and meatballs – and finishes with a choice of fish or veal parmesan for the main course. And for dessert, a light lemon cheesecake. $225 per person, with tables available both indoors and outdoors.
11. Per Se
Per Se is offering a luxurious menu for Valentine’s Day weekend. They are pulling out all the stops. The night begins with a glass of Dom Perignon, then moves onto Golden Reserve Caviar, Foie Gras, Black Truffles, and Aged Wagyu Beef – you know, everything that is most likely to put you in the mood for love. $950 per person.
12. Baccarat Hotel
Perhaps this Valentine’s Day you’re interested in a little staycation? It doesn’t matter if you already live in New York – there’s no reason you can’t escape to a romantic hotel. And why not select the special Valentine’s Day package at the Baccarat Hotel? Your stay will include luxurious accommodations for two, Louis de Sacy champagne, a heart-shaped box full of roses, plenty of chocolate, and a Baccarat crystal keepsake in a red box. You and your partner deserve a treat this holiday.
