Thanks to The Great Lockdown, lots of luxury shoppers have been forced to explore the options for online designer fashion and home decor. Our correspondent Julie Chang Murphy has a review of Verishop, a new luxury online shopping site with accessible price points for women’s fashion apparel, accessories, menswear, kids and beauty.
a new discovery in online luxury shopping
It’s no secret that we love shopping here at Dandelion Chandelier. We admit it: we’ve whiled away many hours in quarantine scrolling through online luxury sites. Mostly in the interest of research, of course, dear reader.

Since March, we’ve developed a far more nuanced understanding of which online luxury sites are the real deal – and what their various editorial visions are, and their approach to customer service. We’ve also discovered some relatively new entrants.
While on one of our many missions, we found a new online luxury shopping site that we’ve all been talking about ever since. You know how every once in a while you come across a new concept and ponder, “Why didn’t we think of that?” This discovery was one of those moments.
We confess, we just don’t love Amazon
Yes, we know that Amazon is a perfect one-stop shop for everything from toys to apparel to pantry staples. But fun to shop? Not so much. Especially for fashion and beauty. The glut of products (not to mention the counterfeit items) can make shopping the site feel like a chore and a hazard. Think about it: counterfeit cosmetics with cyanide, mercury, and rat droppings (eek!) should cure anyone from feeling guilty ever again for splurging on expensive moisturizer.
But we digress.
While lots of affluent consumers love Amazon for lots of categories, very few turn to it for luxury apparel and accessories. The right brands aren’t there, and the overall experience is a far cry from a luxury treasure hunt.
a new entrant takes the field
Enter Verishop, an almost one-year old online luxury shopping ecosystem. The site is trying to disrupt the $3.8 trillion U.S. retail market by being like Amazon – only better – when it comes to fashion.
The site offers both established and nascent luxury brands, and provides the free shipping, free returns and 24/7 customer service that we’ve all come to expect. Goodbye to all the clutter, and hello to beautifully curated apparel for women, men and kids; home goods; and beauty and wellness products.
You won’t encounter European luxury brands here as you do on MatchesFashion, Net-a-Porter, MyTheresa and FarFetch. Nor will you find throwaway fast fashion (which is so passé!)
Instead, Verishop features high quality, buzzy indie ready-to-wear and contemporary brands. Names like Staud, Apiece Apart, Loeffler Randall, Cult Gaia, Goen.J and Rhode. The focus is on accessible price points for the millennial crowd.
There are also covetable favorites from established brands like Marc Jacobs, Theory, Tom Ford, ATM Anthony Thomas Melillo, Diane Von Furstenberg and Vince. Across all categories, there is a focus on brand discovery and sustainable products.

We like this edit quite a lot, actually. While Verishop might not have the breadth of products that a retail department store like Neiman Marcus or Nordstrom, for example, that’s a big part of the appeal for this busy working mom.
Intrigued? Here is a taste of the inspiring summer 2020 edit at Verishop. It made us feel as if we were shopping at a favorite local boutique. Which is a real luxury right now.
Verishop is a Chic New Destination for Online Luxury for summer 2020
1. Women’s Apparel
Summer doesn’t begin until you have an eye-catching wear everywhere dress. Asceno’s silk graphic dress ($635) in a cascading silhouette is glamorous and comfy. Flirty and sweet, we love Rhode’s lemon dress ($375) with puff sleeves and a waist-defining tie.
This sophisticated, drapey Goen.J navy shirt dress ($550) is best for versatility- throw on with white trainers or a bright colored high heel sandal. Cotton gauze is my favorite material for muggy NYC summers and I’ll be living in this coral Xirena midi-dress ($288).
2. Handbags
We’re not always in the market for a splurge worthy designer handbag. For the summer, something more casual and fun is in order. Bembien’s hand-woven tote ($175) made from recycled plastic off the Bali shore has a nostalgic quality while looking modern at the same time.
The season’s hottest shape is the 90’s throwback crescent hobo and we love the sky blue leather of Frenzlauer’s interpretation ($410) which is a perfect match for summer whites. A bucket bag never goes out of style and Sancia’s cognac crossbody ($388) looks more expensive than it really is. Put those boring, neutral totes away for the summer and carry this bright, tomato red one from AMPERSAND AS APOSTROPHE ($495) instead.

3. Men’s Apparel
The men’s selection at Verishop has plenty of everyday essentials like these Rag & Bone slim fit jeans ($250) but we also found a few pieces that struck the right balance between being wearable with an offbeat vibe.
The best luxury online shopping including summer accessories, apparel, and beauty products. Courtesy Photo. This PS by Paul Smith shirt ($175) has a casual fit with a pop of pink nature-inspired prints Wood Wood’s 3,2, 1 organic tee ($70) is inspired by a spirited mix of high fashion and urban style. Their organic cotton shorts ($180) emblazoned with “Power,” “Corruption,” and “Lies” is a must have for the rebel with a cause.
4. Home Goods
Verishop’s collection of home goods are crisp, clean and modern. ferm LIVING is committed to “creating spaces that rest nestled at the delicate junction of fantasy, design and functionality” like this beautifully crafted Clio vase ($109) and long drinking glasses ($75). It is crafted using a unique block printing technique.
This warm neutral pillow made from a cotton linen blend ($95) would fit in with any decor. Join in on the plantagram trend or add more to your indoor jungle. This ZZ plant comes in a simple, mid-century ceramic pot ($79). And this leopard print towel ($79) is a must have for a hint of maximalism and personality.
5. Beauty and Wellness
We’d go as far to say that this section of Verishop’s site is our favorite for discovering new and compelling products, as well as for gifting. A little shimmer goes a long way and is perfect for the summertime. This dry oil from French Girl Organics ($50) is crafted with mineral oxides, pigments and essential oils for a subtle glow.
Upgrade that hand wash with Australian brand, Grown Alchemist’s refreshing Sweet Orange, Cedarwood, Sage scent ($37). Wthn’s Gut Check supplement ($45) helps banish the dreaded carb bloat…not that we would know anything about that. If the nail salon isn’t open yet, these non-toxic and neutral shades from tenoverten ($32) are pretty hard to mess up. Clean beauty brand, Aether’s palette of crystal-charged pigments ($58) in metallic finishes can be mixed and matched til your heart’s content.

6. Kids
Kids clothing, accessories and toys are inherently adorable but the selection at Verishop is elevated without being too precious and fragile. Check out this organic lemon print pajama set ($52) and Oso & Me’s embroidered chambray dress ($120) for a first birthday party. And who can resist these starry light grey overalls ($32)?
The way technology is ramping up, might as well get them used to hugging robots ($60). No room for an elaborate play kitchen? This attractive pop-up kitchen ($60) sets up anywhere for fun on the go. If you’re looking to stand out in the baby shower crowd, buy these super cute organic cotton burp cloths ($22).
